10 Best Multiplayer Survival Video Games
2. Valheim
The newest entry on this list, Valheim launched in 2021 when most people were still required to stay indoors due to the virus-that-shall-not-be-named. While it likely benefited from releasing at a time when people had more time for video games, that's not to say that it's not a great game in its own right.
Merging survival mechanics with Norse mythology, developers Iron Gate Studios struck gold when Valheim released last year to tonnes of hype and excitement. Valheim requires players to explore the world to defeat five bosses, each occupying a different biome within the huge map. However, to do this players will need to gather resources, craft weapons, build bases and hone their skills so that they are strong enough to take the bosses on.
This adds more purpose to the game rather than requiring players to simply gather resources and build structures in order to survive. You will have to eventually venture out of that cozy hamlet that you have created if you want to experience what Valheim is all about.
