10 Best Nintendo Switch Exclusives Of 2019
6. Ring Fit: Adventure
Ring Fit: Adventure is the spiritual successor to Wii Fit, and one which tries to incorporate RPG features into the exercise based gameplay. It’s a novel idea, one which could only come from Nintendo, and one which deserves praise for the attempt alone.
If it’s Wii Fit meets Breath Of The Wild, it’s way less than the sum of its parts. However, just because it doesn’t reach the lofty ambitions it aimed for doesn’t mean it’s a disaster either. It could be a brilliant proof of concept which lays down the groundwork for other games to toy with the motion control in inventive ways.
Of course, it could just as easily become like Nintendo Labo: a solid idea but one entirely disconnected from anything else in the roster. Only time will tell.
The RPG elements of the game are a little half baked and arduous, but they at least at some entertainment into the exercise mix. Wii Fit did a similarly ‘exertainment’ angle with various rhythm, balance and jogging games.
With Ring Fit: Adventure, the exercise is most definitely the point, and that’s a portion of the game it nails. Room for improvement, definitely, but a solid first outing.
