10 Best PS2 Games Of All Time
6. The Simpsons Hit & Run
The Simpsons games have had their ups and downs over the years (the less said about the wrestling and skateboarding games, the better.) Thankfully, The Simpsons Hit and Run was definitely an up.
First releasing in 2003, Hit and Run was an open-world action-adventure game, reminiscent of the Grand Theft Auto series, but set in Springfield and starring everyone’s favourite cartoon family. Whilst you couldn’t mow down Mr Burns with a chainsaw, you could “borrow” cars, run down pedestrians and get up to plenty of mischief in this picturesque Springfield sandbox.
The story followed a plot by the menacing aliens, Kang and Kodos who were hellbent on world domination. Players could take control of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Apu in order to put an end to the slimy duo’s devious scheme. Each character had unique vehicles and abilities to help you along the way.
Character customisation, unique vehicles, exploration and gameplay mechanics all came together in Hit and Run to deliver the ultimate Simpsons game for the PS2. Not only was this game an impressive 10-15 hours long, it was surprisingly challenging at points as well. This meant that fans of all ages got their money’s worth from this absolutely superb title.
