7. Uncharted: Lost Legacy

While players always knew Uncharted 4 was going to be the end of Nathan Drake's story, there was hope that the announced DLC for the game would expand on beloved side characters like Sully, Sam or Elena one last time before they were gone for good.

Consequently, when Naughty Dog revealed the stars of the standalone expansion, The Lost Legacy, were going to be Chloe and Nadine - characters fans neither hated nor loved - players were pretty disappointed.

They shouldn't have been however, as The Lost Legacy, despite being a shorter experience, turned out to be just as good as any of the previous fully-fledged games. Boasting both larger combat areas for players to get lost in as well as tighter, linear set-pieces, the expansion was just as big, if not bigger, than Uncharted 4.

However, it was the personal story of the two heroines which really elevated the material to another level. While fans didn't know much about the characters going into the spin-off, they sure did by the time the credits rolled, and their engaging relationship proved that the Uncharted franchise doesn't need Nathan Drake at the helm to be a success.
