Call of Duty and Halo aren't the only franchises to repeatedly become best-sellers on the Xbox 360, as taking the second best-selling spot is Rockstar's instant classic, open-world sandbox Grand Theft Auto V. At an estimated 14.22 million units, GTA V boasts an impressive amount of sales considering its only been out for just over a year and was released relatively late in the Xbox's life-span. A mere three days after the game's release and it had already surpassed $1 billion dollars in sales, which made it the fastest selling entertainment product in history do that, as well as breaking 6 other Guinness World Records, such as most viewed trailer for a game, best-selling video game in 24 hours and highest grossing video game in 24 hours. It certainly sounds as if Grand Theft Auto should be the best selling game on the Xbox 360, but ultimately it isn't because of its late entry, PS3 sales and the dawn of the eighth generation of consoles. Due to rumors and expectations of a new-gen remaster, a number of those who had already purchased or were planning the PS4 or the Xbox One probably decided to wait until this year for the next gen remastered versions. The overall sales of GTA V probably are the most of any modern video game when looking at unit for unit, but the timing and next-gen platforms have arguably divided would-be Xbox 360 sales into 2013 and 2014.
