9. Black Widow - Mass Effect 3

Picking a favourite sniper rifle from the Mass Effect series is a little like picking a favourite child. While I have a huge soft spot for the level 10 HMWSR Master Sniper Rifle from Mass Effect 1 which I used to kill Saren in about 5 seconds, I think the Black Widow deserves this spot more.

Nowhere is this exemplified more than the fact that this bad boy is going to run you no less than 125,000 credits at the Spectre Requisitions store terminal in Mass Effect 3.

Set this beast up with armour piercing mods and a heavy barrel and you’re going into battle nigh-on unstoppable. Whether it’s the M-98 Widow from Mass Effect 2 or its Black Widow successor in ME3, this sniper is wildly accurate, deals huge amounts of damage, has moderate recoil, sounds like a whole freaking cannon, and lets you fire off three shots before reloading. When the thing is one-shot-kill and shoots straight through dudes there’s very little to complain about.

In fact, the worst thing we can say about this one is that it turns most combat engagements into a cake walk but if you didn’t want a souped up gun you probably wouldn’t be tuned into this list so let’s carry on.
