10 Best Spectacle Fighter Video Games Of All Time

9. God Hand

There's a certain self-aware ridiculous "tone" to many of these sorts of games, and something like God Hand is the most potent, distilled version.

Centring on a plot setup where main-man Gene is pretty much a walking middle finger with arms and a sense of purpose, he's imbued with the power of the God Hand from a wayward deity, and sets about turning foes into mush, or punching them so many times so fast, that they explode.

A huge swathe of abilities are on offer - from dive-kicks and suplexes to finishers where you launch people over the horizon, Team Rocket-style, and with Resident Evil 4's Shinji Mikami on direction duties, you can tell he and his new team at Clover just wanted to experiment with the most overblown action scenarios possible, in the most hilariously self-aware way.

God Hand is every anime action sequence you've ever loved, made playable and done with a kitchen sink approach that meant no idea was left on the cutting room floor.
