Okay chill. I understand that Grand Theft Auto 5 is perhaps one of the most commercially successful and most widely played games of all time but the Los Santos that is depicted in GTA 5 pales in comparison to the original Los Santos that appeared in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Hear me out on this one.

While the GTA 5 version of Los Santos is without a doubt more visually stunning and more vibrant than its predecessor, it fails to bring back the same memories that GTA San Andreas Los Santos does. Think about, what memorable in game set pieces come to mind when you think of GTA 5? Micheal going to his movie premier is awesome but apart from that what is there?

Now compare that with the San Andreas Los Santos and its memorable set pieces. The storming of Madd Dogg's mansion, the Just Business mission where you are chased through the viaducts of the city, the recreation of the LA riots during which the battle with Big Smoke happens and then the final chase with Tenpenny leading back to Grove Street where it all started. All of these moments stand as more memorable story telling as they do not just use the city as a setting but rather they incorporate the city as a key plot device.

The San Andreas version of Los Santos provides a much gritter, more compelling version of the city but even in between missions the city is more fun to explore and complete side missions in that its modern counterpart. The gang territory feature while annoying at times provided and excuse to cause the unhinged destruction and mayhem that the series in known for and the various side activities, like playing pool, dancing and hitting the gym felt like they fit better with the character than the base jumping and scuba diving activities in GTA 5.

I have played both games, I enjoyed both games. But there are a number of reasons that I regularly replay GTA: San Andreas before I would replay GTA 5, and the city of Los Santos is a big reason for that.

And Radio Los Santos is much better in San Andreas than in GTA 5.
