10 Best Video Game Villains Of The Decade
3. Solas (Dragon Age: Inquisition)
Villains have never been the strongest part of the Dragon Age games. Or any Bioware games, to be honest. The main draw of them have always been the heroes and companions scattered throughout the game's narrative. As such, the best solution to this problem was obvious: make a companion the bad guy.
In all three Dragon Age games, you constantly hear of the elves equivalent to the Devil - or perhaps more accurately, Loki - Fen'Harel The Dread Wolf. Welp, turns out that your mystical new buddy, Solas, is Fen'Harel returned to the human world. And also turns out that the elven gods were actually really, REALLY powerful mages who CALLED themselves gods. Because if someone could pick up a mountain with a wave of their hands and then demanded they be called a god, would YOU argue with them?
Fen'Harel was the good guy back in the day, fighting the tyrannical elven gods, eventually banishing them deep to the spirit world known as The Fade...which consequently cost the elves their immortality and magic.
But when Solas tried undoing that whole thing, he accidentally gave the only means of doing it safely to Corypheus, the actual villain of the main game. So now he has to do it the hard way, which WILL save the elves, buuuut kill everyone else.
Dragon Age 4 is currently in development, so we don't know how this villain is going to develop in the next game. But this first impression of what's to come has us more than excited.
