10 Best Video Game Villains Of The Decade

4. Wheatley (Portal 2)

Some say evil is genius, others say evil is openly malicious, but those who have been paying attention the last few years know better.

Evil...is flat out stupid.

Which brings us nicely to Wheatley of Portal 2. While GLADOS is fun, she's much better utilized in Portal 2 as an unlikely companion and foil to Chell. Whereas Wheatley is one of the funniest villains of the entire decade. The brainchild of Aperture Science's best and brightest - meant as a limiter for the rogue AI GLADOS - Wheatley was created with one singular purpose: to create the dumbest moron on the face of the planet. And they sure succeeded with that, as Wheatley is shortsighted, ignorant, bumbling, in a never-ending state of either screwing up or about-to-screw-up, and plagued with a disproportionate and (fittingly) fragile ego.

All of which makes him a hoot to watch as he goes from intrepid companion to traitorous villain literally in the span of 10 seconds, because as any American can tell you, handing an immature, egotistical idiot any sort of power never ends well for anyone.

And yet we can't help but love Wheatley, even as we send his dumb ass into the cold, unforgiving vacuum of space. A fate we wish we could have befall others like him...
