10 Best Video Games Of 2018 You Didn't Play
4. Darksiders III
Suffering one hell of a rocky launch thanks to minuscule advertising and launching in between Red Dead Redemption 2 and Super Smash Bros., Darksiders III still had a lot to offer in the storytelling, character and occasionally flashy combat department.
In terms of continuing the franchise's action cartoon-esque graphics with Legacy of Kain-aping regal script, newcomer Fury is a solid followup to both War and Death from Darksiders 1 and 2. Sadly, fans really jarred with the game's transition into more Souls-ian territory, as a lack of checkpoints, punishingly cheap dodge windows and awkward combat detracted from the franchise's prior God of War/Devil May Cry-esque feel.
Thankfully, an overhauled combat mode has since been patched in that makes DS3 play just like the first two, letting you leap into battle with ease, carve up foes, hoover up XP, unlock weapons and abilities etc., just like we always did.
It's with this new mode that the entire package comes together. The Darksiders trilogy (as it stands, we're supposed to get a fourth instalment) remains highly recommendable, and though this got off to a bad start, is more than worth your time now.
