10 Best Weapons In DOOM History - Ranked
1. BFG 9000 - The Whole Franchise
The BFG 9000 has been a staple of the Doom world since the first game. The name and concept have been copied, parodied, and adapted in countless other forms of media. Even non-gamers know the idea of the BFG.
After all, the concept of Big F***ing Gun is pretty easy to remember.
The BFG 9000 is basically a portable Plasma Cannon that fires a big, beautiful ball of green and white light across the screen, sparking as it goes and causing tremendous splash damage when it hits. It can be used against single heavy demons, or, if you're feeling a bit more rushed, a group of medium demons closing in on you (not recommended in Doom 3, as that version will indeed hurt the Doom Slayer if fired point blank.)
The gun isn't perfect. There is some 'wind up' time as the gun powers up, it can't be used that well against fast-moving targets, and in some of the games, ammo can be difficult to find.
Still, no other weapon in the Doom series makes you feel quite so badass as when you launch this baby into a group of demons. Although each game portrays the BFG a little differently, it is impossible not to grin when that green ball flies, frying demons as it goes.
The iconic BFG 9000 has earned a place in the video game weapon Hall of Fame.
