10 Best Xbox One Games Of 2018

6. Sea Of Thieves

Forza Horizon 4 Halo
Rare

The 'Games as a service' model is a divisive one, typically serving as a positive for publishers and a negative for the gamers who actually buy the games. Sea Of Thieves fell into this problem initially as it had a great foundation and concept, but not a lot of purposeful content.

Thankfully, Rare has continued to build on that foundation through free content added through patches, like story missions and activities. A multiplayer-focused battleground called The Arena is releasing within the next few months, which will then be followed by three additional currently-unknown updates. The primary issue that the game dealt with (lack of substance) is being gradually fixed and the game's amazing potential is nearing reality.

Rare certainly has something special here. SoT has an immersive atmosphere and gorgeous art design. These work expertly with gameplay that allows a refreshing sense of freedom and unpredictability. With all the content patches (past and future) implemented, the game has the best sense of balance its ever had. The game's 'world is your oyster' mentality and constant content additions have made for a pretty immersive experience - one where any gamer can find an adventure worth having. Grab a couple friends and start sailing.
