Despite original creators Irrational Games forming a new studio after the release of Bioshock Infinite in 2013, the imaginative first-person shooter series isn't dead yet. Publisher 2K has insisted ever since the previous title shipped that the world and characters are still important to them, and have been focused on finding a developer to carry on the series' legacy.

Although we haven't heard anything from the franchise since though, there's a good chance that 2018 could finally be the year that players get to see what 2K have been working on.

There's not that much to go on, but in a recent earnings call the publisher revealed that alongside Red Dead Redemption, they plan on releasing yet another instalment in one of their biggest franchises in 2018. Consequently, with how long the beloved series has been dormant, it could finally be time for fans to get their hands on a brand new Bioshock adventure.
