10 Biggest Consumer Complaints The Gaming Industry Doesn't Want To Fix
4. Season Passes And False Promises
Seasons passes have always been a problem in the gaming industry, especially when they're full of content that should have been in the main game.
Season passes essentially rely on a gamers trust in the publisher and the game itself as often times players aren't actually informed of what will even be in the season pass. We're just left to hope that what we get given is actually worth it which, spoiler alert, it often isn't.
Publishers make so much money from seasons passes that they're pretty much just a part of gaming culture now. If a game has DLC to offer, it almost always has a season pass to go along with it. It also allows developers to add extra content to their game, which is actually a benefit for gamers too.
This would be fine, but there really needs to be some transparency with what will actually be included within. If a season pass absolutely has to happen, the least it can do is let players know what's coming up.
