10 Biggest Problems With Nintendo Switch
3. Not Many New Titles To Get Excited About
In the most recent Nintendo Direct, fans were relieved to see Breath of the Wild's follow-up, Tears of the Kingdom, finally received a release date. Not since the release of its predecessor has a Switch title been hyped this much.
But after this Legend of Zelda sequel is finally released, what then? What's the next carrot to dangle around Nintendo's rabid fanbase to stop them losing interest?
Obviously, Metroid Prime 4 is in the pipeline, but we don't have a clue when that's being released. Although Star Fox, Donkey Kong, and F-Zero used to be the bread-and-butter of Nintendo, there's no hint any new instalments from these series are coming to the Switch.
Do you know what's really depressing about the Switch's future? At the recent Nintendo Direct, the game that fans were most excited about apart from The Legend of Zelda... was Goldeneye 007. Instead of being hyped about a new IP or a potential franchise, gamers were more giddy about the re-release of a 25-year-old game.
Granted, Goldeneye 007 is among the most influential shooters ever, it's still worrying when consumers get more amped up at the prospect of replaying a game from four generations ago than the Switch's latest titles.
Worst still, the Switch hasn't succeeded in crafting a successful franchise from scratch. The Wii U may have failed, but it created the Splatoon franchise, which is still going strong. Although Nintendo Switch Sports had the potential to become Nintendo's new mega-franchise, it had such a minimal impact, a lot of gamers didn't notice it came out.
