10 Biggest Video Game Villains With The Smallest Screentime

4. Lavos - Chrono Trigger

Resident Evil 5
Square-Enix

Chrono Trigger's Lavos is one of the most iconic RPG villains of all time and honestly, video game baddies full stop.

However, the parasitic extraterrestrial creature is also a textbook example of an antagonist who is barely in the game, and yet they still manage to cast a wide shadow over basically the entirety of the story.

Though Lavos is mythologised by the game's many characters, they actually only show up for a small handful of scenes, typically when the player has to do battle with them.

Yet considering Lavos' grotesque appearance whenever they do show up, and how fearfully they're spoken of otherwise, they're able to remain an utterly dread-inducing entity throughout the entire 20-hour play time.

Square Enix resisted the urge to do what so many RPGs do and overexpose their monstrous villains, to the point that when you finally fell them at the end, you're a little too accustomed to their presence. That was thankfully far from the case here.
