10 Bold Predictions For E3 2021
2. Insomniac's Spider-Man 2 Teaser Confirms Two Protagonists
We may be only a few months removed from the release of Spider-Man: Miles Morales, but it'd be naive to think that Insomniac isn't already hard at work on the next fully-fledged Spider-Man game - a full-fat sequel to 2017's Spider-Man.
Though it's incredibly unlikely Insomniac would be ready to show off a significant and polished slice of gameplay by E3, it's quite possible we'll at least get a teaser trailer hyping up the game for a potential 2022 release.
Given the enormous success of both games, it's overwhelmingly likely that Spider-Man 2 will feature dual protagonists, with the campaign split between Peter Parker and Miles, possibly even in two different locations to really change things up.
This would be a fantastic way for Insomniac to effectively have their cake and eat it with regard to their two superhero protagonists, ensuring the sequel is bigger and more ambitious than what came before.
Co-op play has been much-speculated for the sequel, though that would of course be decidedly trickier to implement outside of a limited online multiplayer component. A fully co-op campaign is probably not on the cards, at least.
We may not see much more than a logo and a brief glimpse of Peter and Miles doing their thing, but don't be too shocked if the sequel is confirmed at E3.
After all, the upcoming God of War sequel was teased back last September and isn't expected out until at least the end of this year.
