10 Brain Bending Video Game Puzzles That Will Drive You Insane
5. Fez
The aesthetic of Fez is decidedly psychadellic. Bright, contrasting, lurid colours in swirling, blocky patterns. Stepping into the world of Fez is what I imagine taking magic mushrooms and listening to Jimmy Hendrix must feel like.
The game itself is every bit as surreal as the aesthetic. There's always logic to the puzzles, whether it's decoding the secret languages scrawled on the walls, or trying to work your way up to the floating bell tower. Fez is actually pretty linear, serving as it does as homage to the Nintendo platform games of the early 90s. But the effect of playing Fez is decidedly disorienting, in a positive way. Like floating in zero-gravity after a life time of being glued to the earth.
Like magic mushrooms (again, I imagine), Fez fucks with your head in a way that will keep you coming back for more.
