3. Clementine Sewing Her Arm - Telltale’s The Walking Dead Season 2

This one is brutal for a whole other reason. Season One of The Walking Dead got us so attached to little Clementine but in Season Two she’s forced to fend for herself and endure some truly horrible things.

Here, not only is the action happening in the scene sickening, having to watch a character we care about so much endure it just adds to the heart-wrenching impact.

After being bitten by a dog our heroine needs to give herself stitches and again, while the Telltale art style isn’t terribly detailed, it’s still undeniably icky and the game mechanics make you endure every single movement. From the sting of the anaesthetic to each tug of thread through Clem’s skin as she tries to close her open wound. Watching her cry out as she pulls the needle through is enough to make your skin crawl, even in simple cell shading.

The scene does a great job of showing us Clem is the tough little trouper we always knew she was but it’s brutal to watch and even worse to play.
