10 Cancelled Star Wars Games We’ll NEVER Get Over
3. Star Wars: Battlefront 3
Developed by Pandemic Studios, Star Wars: Battlefront and its sequel, Star Wars: Battlefront 2, are two of the most seminal Star Wars titles from the 2000s. The first games to truly capture the scale of the franchise's most epic battles, the Battlefront titles both sold remarkably well and were pretty much the last games fans thought would struggle to get additional entries.
But despite significant progress being made on Star Wars: Battlefront 3 by several different studios, the game was ultimately cancelled, leaving us with only glimpses of what could have been. The game aimed to introduce seamless transitions between ground combat and space battles, and a more narrative-driven campaign. Notably, one scene depicted Luke Skywalker on Mustafar experiencing Force echoes of Anakin Skywalker's transformation into Darth Vader.
Ultimately, many of the elements planned for Star Wars: Battlefront 3 were incorporated into the PSP spin-off Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron, which saw Force-sensitive clone siblings fight on either side of the Galactic Civil War following Order 66.
The creators had so many ideas for the series' future, they made plans for Battlefront IV, which looked at major departures in canon and what-if scenarios, like Obi-Wan Kenobi embracing the Dark Side and Darth Maul becoming a Jedi.
Though both sequels got the boot, a mostly finished version of Battlefront 3 can be played on a Wii emulator.
