Darth Maul has been a fan favourite since he debuted in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. Because of this, it's no surprise there's been a heavy demand for the spiky Sith to star in his own game.

Although Red Fly Studio planned such a project, it never came to pass. Developed in 2010, Star Wars: Battle of the Sith Lords would've centred around the Emperor's former apprentice, who had survived his canonical death.

Players would take control of Maul and his Twi'lek disciple, Darth Talon. While controlling Maul, players could summon a droid to scan the environment or command Talon to eliminate potential threats.

Though Maul would wield his signature double-edged lightsaber, the game utilised stealth mechanics, compelling players not to draw attention to themselves. The disgraced Sith could also use the Force to compel his targets to kill themselves or each other.

It's worth mentioning Talon's inclusion would've created a massive continuity error since she was canonically alive 170 years after these events. However, George Lucas was so insistent about including Talon in the game, the developers ended up redirecting the project from a Phantom Menace prequel to one set in the distant future.

If the game was released and well-received, it could've had a drastic effect on the future of Star Wars. George Lucas, who was very hands on with Battle of the Sith Lords' development, envisioned Talon as "the new Darth Vader" of Episode VII-IX. If Disney saw the positive reception Talon received, she could've become the main villain of the sequel trilogy, with Maul's profile only growing bigger.
