10 Celebrities You Couldn't Take Seriously In Video Games

7. Kumail Nanjiani - Middle-earth: Shadow of War

Kumail Nanjiani's lively, animated voice certainly makes him a great fit for many video game franchises, but The Lord of the Rings? Not quite.

Nanjiani appears in Middle-earth: Shadow of War as The Agonizer - a recurring comic relief orc character who... sounds just like Kumail Nanjiani.

While orcs can certainly be funny, the main problem is that absolutely nothing was done in post-production to modulate Nanjiani's voice to make it sound more inhuman and, well, orc-like.

Any time Nanjiani speaks, it's tough not to picture the guy running the lines in the recording booth.

The decision to not alter Nanjiani's voice in post surprised even the actor himself, who called it out - in front of the developers themselves, no less - while promoting the game on Conan O'Brien's Clueless Gamer series.

Every time the Agonizer shows up, it's totally immersion breaking hearing Nanjiani's peppy, unfiltered American accent - it just doesn't fit the world or tone at all.
