10 Celebrities You Couldn't Take Seriously In Video Games

6. Mena Suvari - Kingdom Hearts II

Mandy Moore gave a rock solid performance as Aerith in the first Kingdom Hearts, though for reasons unknown the part was recast for Kingdom Hearts II, with Mena Suvari being drafted in as Moore's replacement.

Except, Suvari's mousy, timid performance didn't suit the character at all, and was wildly inconsistent with Moore's more outgoing vocal work in the previous game.

While Aerith had actual presence in the first Kingdom Hearts, in the sequel Suvari's quasi-robotic line delivery made it tough to concentrate on what the character was actually saying.

In Suvari's defense, she sounds much better as Aerith in the animated film Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, so it's easy to believe that she was simply poorly directed while recording her lines for Kingdom Hearts II.

Even accepting that Aerith's role in the game isn't very big, her entire appearance is derailed by the off-note voice acting.

With Briana White having now given the definitive portrayal of the character in the Final Fantasy VII remake series, it's even more jarring to go back and listen to Suvari's attempt in this game.
