As the years go by, Visual Concepts is always looking for new ways to generate excitement for their next WWE game, and that often includes introducing new game modes. Recent editions have seen the inclusion of Showcase mode and The Island, but one option available could be to look towards previous WWE games and bringing back old features.

Thinking back to SmackDown vs. Raw 2009, particularly, the Road to WrestleMania storylines were a true highlight, where you'd pick from a list of top stars and follow their path to the Showcase of the Immortals. This is the game mode that has had memorable moments, such as Edge and Christian breaking the video game's fourth wall or the Undertaker possessing many of his opponents along the way.

Later iterations of Road to WrestleMania also included using custom superstars, which in turn led to the MyRise game mode. So, keeping those two features distinct should be key, but with loads of top stars across Raw, SmackDown, and NXT, picking a handful of names for a revamped Road to WrestleMania mode shouldn't be too difficult.
