Whether it's The Nameless King or Malenia, FromSoftware's collection of Soulsborne games are known for having some of the toughest boss fights in recent years. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was no different, with the likes of Isshin, Sword Saint and Owl Father being two noteworthy examples.

Despite sharing some of the core DNA of its peers, Sekiro is a wholly different beast from Dark Souls. Instead of cautiously waiting for an opportunity to land some hits, combat in Sekiro is more aggressive, focusing on deflecting and countering incoming attacks. Boss fights consequently play out like rhythmic dances as players learn the timings for each of their moves.

The exception to this is The Demon of Hatred. An optional boss encountered towards the end of the game, this fiery monstrosity doesn't play by the same rules as the other bosses. Bombarding players with a barrage of devastating AoE attacks and sporting a mammoth health bar, The Demon of Hatred feels more like a Dark Souls boss.

By rendering the hours that players spent mastering Sekiro's precise combat system useless and forcing them to adapt to a completely different play style, it's easy to understand why this boss is disliked by fans.
