10 Cheap Boss Fights That Made You Rage Quit
8. Viconia DeVir - Baldur's Gate 3 (2023)
Baldur's Gate 3 is a spectacular game. Not only did it weave an epic narrative, but the amount of choice afforded to players in both character creation and narrative decisions provided a level of freedom that's rarely seen in games.
With players facing God-like beings and dragons throughout their adventure, the combat encounters are as gigantic as everything else in this game. However, not every fight was made equally, with some being far more frustrating than fun.
One of the worst offenders comes during Shadowheart's companion quest when the party makes their way to The House of Grief to confront the Sharran leader, Viconia DeVir.
What makes this encounter so difficult is the sheer number of enemies the game throws at players. Without effective means of dealing with the small army of Sharrans, players can easily become overwhelmed. Making this task harder is the constant casting of the Darkness spell by enemies that blinds affected party members, consequently putting players at a severe disadvantage.
The challenge of this fight lies in being able to handle so many enemies at the same time. Even with a high-level party, this fight is a painful experience, making House of Grief a fitting name.
