10 Cheap Boss Fights That Made You Rage Quit
7. Sogne, The Icebound - Metaphor: ReFantazio (2024)
Metaphor: ReFantazio is an epic RPG developed by Atlus that sees the protagonist become entangled in an election to become the new king. Alongside winning the people's support, the heroes must also find a way to break the curse that's kept the rightful ruler in a coma, all while the plot explores themes of heroism, discrimination, and fanaticism to marvellous effect.
The combat is as grand as its narrative scope, pitting players against dozens of dangerous enemies throughout the game. One of the toughest is the dragon Sogne, who's faced when the heroes are summoned to the Mage Academy during a pivotal point in the story.
Able to deal huge chunks of damage to the entire party in a single turn, Sogne is a major difficulty spike. What makes him even harder is that he's constantly being buffed and protected by a shield that blocks elemental attacks while the party is frequently debuffed. If players don't have the means to negate these effects, Sogne will eviscerate a party who become too weak to deal significant damage.
Even more frustrating, players are locked into this fight for story reasons, meaning that they're going to have a tougher time if they're unprepared.
