10 Classic Comics Insomniac Should Adapt For Spider-Man 2
5. The Hobgoblin Saga
Roderick Kingsley's Hobgoblin is a deadly foe, and having him as the main villain of a video game would be a welcome diversion away from the love that Spider-Man media has had for the Green Goblin. While Green Goblin is certainly one of Spider-Man's greatest foes, the Hobgoblin also deserves some time in the limelight.
The original mystery of who was behind the mask was compelling and the reveal of the Hobgoblin being Kingsley was truly exciting, as it was revealed that Spider-Man's pursuit of Kingsley led the criminal to discover the lair of the Green Goblin, which resulted in the him becoming the Hobgoblin.
This plot thread obviously would not work quite the same, since the Green Goblin does not exist yet in the Insomniac universe. However, it could be worked around for the storyline of the game, as showcased in the original Spider-Man animated series which had the Hobgoblin as an active villain before the Green Goblin.
The main aspect of the game would be the mystery behind the identity of the masked lunatic, giving Insomniac the opportunity to have Spider-Man in a detective like story that would keep players guessing up until the final reveal.
