10 Classic Multiplayer Video Games You Must Play Before You Die
9. Hogs Of War (PS1)
In 2000, Hogs of War expanded on the Worms model. Yes, it's another turn-based strategy game, with a war/animal theme. Except now the 2D was 3D, the worms were pigs dressed up in military uniforms, and all the voices were performed by the legendary Rik Mayall.
Although Hogs of War never set the gaming world alight when it was first released, it's garnered something of a cult following in the years since. Fond memories of lost evenings/nights/mornings where you and your friends would waste countless hours trying to make bacon out of each other.
There was something weirdly satisfactory about launching Madness Gas at a crowd of your opposing teams and watching their pigs run off a cliff whilst squealing in utter confusion. Some of the level designs were genius in their devious simplicity. In particular, the four turret level - where each team had to race each other to take control of a gun turret on four separate mountains - was stupidly enjoyable.
Moments like these, made Hogs of War the epitome of classic multiplayer madness.
