10 Classic Nintendo Games That NEED Switch Remakes

6. Harvest Moon 64

Harvest Moon is now known as Story Of Seasons, with the developers splintering into two different companies in a bit of an MK Dons and AFC Wimbledon situation. There is a series still being made called Harvest Moon, but these are considered to be new games, with Story Of Seasons the official follow ups to the original Harvest Moons.

You might be wondering what all this has to do with anything, but it has a significant bearing on a remake for a multitude of reasons. Xseed, the first devs, no longer own the name Harvest Moon, so a remake might be impossible. Natsume own the name, but Harvest Moon 64 is not really their game.

The MK Dons and AFC Wimbledon metaphor runs at big deeper too, if we can dispense with hypothetical problems for now. Neither the new Harvest Moon nor Story of Seasons have even came close to hitting Harvest Moon 64’s sweet spot.

A farming sim before inferior clones dogged every 30 second advert break in a free mobile game, it marks a real throwback to peaceful, relaxing gaming. It would be fantastic to relive it on the Switch all over again, but legal shenanigans might have already blocked it.
