10 Classic Nintendo Games That NEED Switch Remakes
5. Chrono Trigger
The Chrono series is a slightly forgotten classic that seems to have petered out without any real reason why. The games were great, sold well and Trigger’s sequel, Chrono Cross, built on its predecessor enough that progress was easy to see. Square Enix then trademarked Chrono Break for a third game, but the trademark quietly expired and Chrono ended with a whimper.
It was a strange and slightly sad end for the classic RPG, and a remake could see it get a new lease of life, or at least give it the Viking funeral it deserves. Chrono is owed that much.
Though it’s exaggeration to call this the best game of all time, you’d be hard pressed to find a better team of creative minds. The project was lead by Hironubu Sakaguchi (the creator of Final Fantasy), Yuji Horii (the creator of Dragon Quest), and Akira Toriyama (the artist behind Dragon Ball). It’s no wonder the game had such brilliant gameplay, storyline and art style.
With multiple endings, plot significant sidequests and one of the first ever New Game Pluses, it’s not just the characters who time travel; the game itself was significantly ahead of the curve.
