Even though The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker was incredible, it s cartoonish aesthetic received a lot of flack. Many long-time fans were disappointed since they were hoping for a mature LoZ entry, akin to the tech demo teased at Spaceworld in 2000.

So, when Nintendo revealed the follow-up to Wind Waker at 2004's E3, the excitement was through the roof. The trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess showcased a chilling tone and gritty atmosphere unlike anything seen in the franchise before.

Watching Link prepping his sword on horse-back while an endless horde of bokoblins loomed on the horizon was a magical moment. Captions appeared throughout the teaser, stating "Swords will bleed" and "Shields will shatter," reminding us Twilight Princess was nothing like its cutesy predecessor. And with Conan the Barbarian's Riders of Doom blaring throughout, it was clear we were getting the epic adventure we always wanted.

This trailer hit home for many because it felt like Nintendo took the criticisms surrounding Wind Waker on-board and did everything in their power to course-correct and give the masses what they wanted.
