10 Companies Who Made Their Name With Shoddy Licensed Games
4. Konami - Plan 9 From Outer Space
From Castlevania through to the Metal Gear Solid series, Konami has a reputation as one of the biggest and best Japanese developers and publishers of all time. Even given their recent troubles with Hideo Kojima and the outcry that has followed the cancellation of Silent Hills, the company still has a top reputation for all of their past work.
However, like so many others, it also has a skeleton or two in its closet when it comes to poor videogames. Their worst attempts tend not to come to the attention of the masses, but that doesn't excuse the company from the occasional gaming catastrophe that it has created.
The Worst Game - Is it at all surprising that a poor game was the result when Konami got their hand's on the licence to an Ed Wood film? Plan 9 From Outer Space attempted to make light of the poor reputation of the film under the guise of an adventure game, but it fell apart on every level.
Graphically poor compared to its contemporaries, it was also accused of taking cheap shots at the film without maintaining any of its charm, though some could argue such cheap shots were deserved. Why Konami thought taking the mickey out of a bad film would make for a good game is anyone's guess.
