10 Confessions Of A PS4 Owner After Buying A Nintendo Switch

8. Graphics Aren't That Important

When it comes to video games, I'm the guy who's completely suckered in by buzzwords like "4K", "HDR" and "fidelity", to the point where Sony's PS4 Pro became a must-buy machine as soon as it was announced.

It completely shook me, then, when I realised I was having more fun with the Nintendo Switch's (in comparison) far less visually-impressive games, than I was with the flawlessly-presented titles on the PS4. The argument has long been that gameplay trumps graphics, and nothing proves that more than Nintendo's new console.

Even then, while they lack raw performance power, the Switch's library is full of games which are still beautiful to look at. Breath of the Wild's art style and world design are absolutely gorgeous, especially when blown up on the big screen, while even the bursts of vivid colour in Mario Kart look amazing in motion.

Of course, seeing huge games like Battlefront running in 4K with HDR enabled is still a thing to be marvelled at, but graphical power doesn't mean much if the game itself is style over substance.
