10 Confessions Of A PS4 Owner After Buying A Nintendo Switch

7. The Switch Is So Much Better For Local Multiplayer

Local multiplayer is a dying art. Microsoft and Sony have almost rendered the glory days of couch co-op and split-screen deathmatches obsolete, with the majority of titles moving towards online-only multiplayer that encourages more people to buy multiple copies of a title, rather than allowing one to be enjoyed by a group of friends.

Thankfully though, Nintendo's new machine has gone in the opposite direction in an attempt to champion local play. Not only does the console ship with two controllers, rather than making owners drop 60 bucks just so a second player can join in on the fun, but even the way the system is designed inherently encourages playing with friends.

Being able to unclip both controllers and bring in a pal is great, but it's the ability to play split-screen either on a TV - or using the stand to make the screen usable for two (or more) people - that makes the Switch such a versatile machine.

You have to jump through so many hoops on both the PS4 and Xbox One just to enjoy a game with one other person, but the Switch comes readily equipped with everything you could ask for, right out the box.
