10 Confessions Of A PS4 Owner After Upgrading To The Pro
4. HDR Is So Confusing
HDR is the future. The way it adds a dynamism to lighting systems within games can be breathtaking - but you're going to need to know exactly which TV or monitor you need to buy to get the most out of this cutting-edge feature.
That's because there's actually two different types of HDR: 8-bit and 10-bit. However when you're picking up a 4K screen, manufacturers haven't made it clear which sets come with which version of HDR, meaning that more often than not you're only going to get the "true" 10-bit feature if you shell out for the higher-end models.
The lower quality HDR is still impressive, but unless you do some digging it isn't clear what you're buying into, and unless you have thousands to spare you're probably not be going to get the full HDR effect that Sony has been promoting since the Pro's reveal.
