10 Crazy Facts You Just Have To Accept To Enjoy Metal Gear Solid
6. Action Sequences Can Never Be Too Over The Top
No doubt inspired by Japanese anime, Metal Gear Solid is stuffed full of crazy, over-the-top action sequences featuring superhuman stunts from a variety of characters. MGS 4 in particular is full of these ridiculous moments but they're present throughout too. Back in the original Metal Gear Solid, the cyborg ninja Gray Fox performs a number of ridiculous stunts, Snake pulls off some amazingly acrobatic flips - most notably in the remake Twin Snakes - and the game also introduces antagonist Revolver Ocelot's insane skills with a six-shooter. MGS 2 features a fat man called Fatman on roller skates who plants bombs all over the place as well as an intense final encounter between Solidus Snake and Raiden, both wielding katanas. Plus, Vamp is introduced to the series here and he performs a swathe of other-wordly gravity-defying acrobatics. Of course, as stated before the fourth game is where it all goes properly insane. Raiden in particular, thanks to his new cyborg body, has a whole new moveset of crazy, ridiculous feats of strength which put all others to shame - his introductory sequence immediately being amazingly over-the-top. One of his highlights sees him holding up an entire ocean-bound warship and coming out of it in relatively one piece - it really is quite insane. Moments like these might grate on some but they're just a part of the series' charm.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
