10 Crucial Questions We Have For 2017's Remaining Video Games

9. Was COD Going 'Boots On The Ground' What The Public Wanted?

Here's an interesting viewpoint: Was it the Call of Duty fanbase overall - factoring in sales from across the globe - who wanted a return to a World War/old school setting, or just the more vocal online contingent?

It's an important distinction, because Black Ops III still sold over 25 million copies and Infinite Warfare was the best-selling game of 2016, and while you can say it was down to being "that year's Call of Duty", it still shows there's a substantial interest in future-based antics.

Could it be that Activision redirecting their biggest brand's focus off the back of a sizeable Youtube dislike bar and an angry Twitter mob is actually a big mistake? It would explain why there's a notable lack of marketing surrounding Call of Duty: WWII, and why even COD fans are struggling to get excited for something they've already had multiple instalments of in the 2000s.

Maybe it'll be brilliant, but even then, where do Activision go from here? Modern Warfare... again?
