10 Darkest Bad Endings In Video Games
4. Tainted Pacifist Run (Undertale)
You would think there'd be only one answer when it comes to deciding the darkest ending in Undertale, that being the Genocide Route, right? Deciding to murder every single monster in the game leads to an ending so bleak and depressing it'll make you feel like the villain you are. You even receive the punishment you deserve, as your evil counterpart, Chara, appears and kills you, the player.
The thing is, it can and does get worse if you decide to pull an Uno reverse card and try to make up for your actions afterwards. Enter, the Tainted Pacifist (also known as Soulless Pacifist) ending.
Choosing to restart the game post-Genocide run and spare every single monster will result in you experiencing the Pacifist route as is, with the Asriel encounter and the ending all intact. That is, until Chara re-appears in a post-credits scene, and it's clear that you can never escape what you did.
The scariest thing about this ending is that it doesn't undo your Genocide. You murdering everyone before still canonically happened, despite resetting the game, and it'll probably happen again. No matter how kind you decide to be now, this world is forever tainted by your maliciousness.
