Red Dead Redemption 2 Electric Chair
Rockstar

Rockstar have never been afraid to shine a critical light on various aspects of American society. And in Red Dead Redemption 2 the studio turned their satirical light to the subject of capital punishment.

Venturing to the northeast of Saint Denis, players will be beckoned by one Andrew Bell III who’ll ask them to locate 100 gallons of moonshine for him to complete his invention. Upon delivering his large drink order, he’ll explain that he’s working on an electric chair, a revolutionary invention that will kill criminals in a far more humane way than hanging them.

Having then acquired a permit from the police chief and wrangling a wanted criminal of animal husbandry to be the professor’s guinea pig, you can then make your way to witness the demonstration of this contraption.

Despite the professor’s hyperbolically poetic speech, the demonstration goes horribly wrong, resulting in the criminal dying a long and excruciatingly painful comparable to Delacroix’s execution in The Green Mile.

The biggest irony of this whole ordeal is that Bell, attempting to speed up the process, is electrocuted himself and dies a much quicker and humane death than the unfortunate test subject.
