10 Dead Video Game Franchises That Need To Return

9. Super Mario Strikers

Nintendo have created many Super Mario sports titles over the years. From the tennis and golf games to baseball and the Olympics. But in 2005 for the Gamecube, Nintendo released Super Mario Strikers, a stellar, frantic football game with an excellent roster of familiar characters and potent power-ups.

They followed this up with Mario Strikers charged for the Wii, which also garnered positive reviews and strong sales.

So why has it been so long since we received a Super Mario Strikers title? Considering that football is the most popular sport in the world and the fact that the Nintendo Switch could provide better visuals, animations and action, it seems like a no brainer.

The switch is already home to the recently released Mario Golf: Super rush and Mario tennis aces and a new strikers game would be right at home beside the Mario sports switch lineup.

Whilst previous entries in the strikers series have been 5-a-side football, the more powerful processing of the Nintendo Switch opens up the possibility of delivering full 11-a-side experience. In a world that is increasingly suffering from the annual Fifa fatigue, a new Super Mario Strikers title is in a perfect position to score a winner.
