10 DEADLIEST Dark Souls Sorceries

These dragon-slaying spells are not to be underestimated.

In a world with devastating weapons twice your size and the literal appendages of beasts to beat down your enemies with, it's probably not surprising that the sorcery of the Dark Souls series is often scoffed at. After all, whyever would you want to ponce around with a knobbly wooden staff when you could be slicing apart hordes of demons with a greatsword made from a dragon's tail?

And the sorcerers of Dark Souls's world are rather a snobby sort, so they don't exactly do much to sell it either. But one need only look deeper than the superficial presentation of magic here to see that, more often than not, it can pack just as much of a wallop as that big iron stick you've been carrying around.

From Lordran to Drangleic to Lothric and beyond, sorcery continues to evolve, with more and more spells to choose from each game. And though the learning curve for magic users may seem insurmountable at first, pretty soon you'll be laughing at your club-wielding peers as you blow them away with one press of a button.

Not every sorcery in Dark Souls is useful. But the ones that are can easily bag you victory over even the most horrific disciples of the Dark.

10. Hidden Weapon

At first glance, this sorcery may seem a bit pointless. What could possibly be the use in making your weapon invisible? And sure, there isn't really any in offline PvE. But it's in PvP, specifically fending off invading players, where this devious trick really shines.

Think about it: you're coming at your opponent with a massive slab of metal the size of a small aircraft, one that screams "come get me while I spend the next ten seconds winding up my attack". If they can't see your weapon, however, how will they know when to dodge and when to strike?

It works the other way, too. You could have a very quick and elegant dexterity-based weapon, while the invader could be expecting you to have a huge strength weapon and think they've got time to get a few jabs in. Then you carve them up like a turkey.

It's the perfect tool for both the invading scumbag and the stalwart warrior who has to defend his home turf.
