5. Dead Island 2

Another "Remember this?!" game, the first Dead Island went on to be one of the biggest disappointments of all time after people became fully invested in its emotionally-draining debut trailer, only for the final product to be playable enough, but nothing special outside a unique targeting system. Reason for the delay is down to original developers switching gears to focus on the fantastic Dying Light, leaving relative newcomers Yager to step in and fill their varyingly-sized shoes. The trailer was a far more lighthearted affair this time around, although you really couldn't lower the bar any more in terms of public perception for the franchise overall. With everything to play for and nothing to lose for such a fledgling studio that have made one legendary game so far in Spec-Ops: The Line (yes, those guys), it's all to play for... providing you're not too sick of zombies at this point, anyway.
