3. Ethan Is Dead - Resident Evil Village

After the mess which was Resident Evil 6, the franchise needed to go back to basics. So Capcom did just that with Resident Evil 7 Biohazard.

Though taking on the role of Ethan winters was a strange one. This milk-toast protagonist was the blankest of all slates we had seen in a while. Saying that Capcom didn’t even want us to see his face. But for some reason, this guy could take a comical amount of punishment in both Biohazard and Village.

Village only ramps up the amongst of punishment this man can take to his hands to the point where it almost seems ridiculous, just pour some liquid on the wound and sure, it will be fine. But somehow Capcom made this work with a final twist in Village. It turns out Ethan was dead all along and had been killed by Jack Baker all those years ago.

So that’s right, Ethan had been a mold man this entire time, and nobody thought to tell him.

When he finds out, it almost crushes him.
