10 Divisive Video Game Endings Nobody Agrees On
1. Final Fantasy X
While the plot of Final Fantasy X is, like most games in the series, long and complicated, what motivates a lot of players to push forward more than anything is the romance between Tidus and Yuna. It is the emotional heart of the story, and you want to see the two of them make it out together in the end.
Given the tragic nature of their relationship though, they are destined to be forever separated, and this is how the game ends. After defeating Sin, Tidus begins to fade from reality, and before disappearing completely, they proclaim their love for one another as Tidus wraps his arms around Yuna one last time.
The conclusion to Final Fantasy X just might be the definition of a divisive ending. Feelings towards this ending are nearly split down the middle, with some seeing the ending as poetic and emotionally devastating, while others were left feeling confused and underwhelmed.
So divisive was it that many believe that Final Fantasy X-2, the first connected sequel in the series, was made in part because of this diverse response. Whether this was actually the case is mere speculation, but it only goes to show how mixed people felt about this ending.
