If you've played Dark Souls, you understand. Whilst, Dark Souls has a reputation for being difficult, it is rarely unfair. But when it comes to Basilisks, they are grossly unfair. They are incredibly weak and can probably be killed in a single swing. However, they inflict curse, which is the single most terrifying status ailment around.

Curse permanently cuts your health in half, with the only cure being incredibly cumbersome to get. Whilst the status effect is incredibly bad on its own, the game purposefully pushes you into situations where an inexperienced player is undoubtedly going to get caught out.

The first interaction with them involves you falling into their nest, where a new player will undoubtedly not realise the severity of the building status bar and get infected with a crippling status effect.
