Originating on flash game websites, Bloons Tower Defence became the go to game to play in your school IT lessons. There seemed to be a time where everyone you knew had played the game and claimed they could beat all the maps on hard difficulty, despite never being able to actually do it in person.

The first game in the franchise released in 2007 and since then there have been five further sequels that build on the tower defence mechanics, adding new monkeys and new balloons. The game has also made the jump to mobile devices, making it an even more popular and accessible game. It's estimated that the series has been played over a billion times across online websites and mobile devices, which is no easy feat. Even to this day the series is seeing constant developments and it's likely we'll get another entry into the franchise in no time.

Who would've known a game where you place monkeys to destroy waves of balloons could be so fun? It's a great little addicting game that demonstrates that just about any idea can take off if deisgned well.
