10 Most Enjoyable Set-Pieces In The Uncharted Trilogy
10. Dialogue Exchanges (All)
As previously mentioned, one of the highlights of the Uncharted series is its highly likable cast of characters, led by the titular Nathan Drake and his mentor Victor 'Goddamn' Sullivan (or Sully for short), as well as his love interests, Elena Fisher and Chloe Frazer. Much of their likability stems from the often hilarious interactions that they have with one another throughout the games. Even in hazardous situations, there are enough witty one-liners to put James Bond to shame, whilst Nate's sarcastic observations of his surroundings rarely fail to enhance the enjoyment of a scene. He even frequently comments on the ludicrous nature of the situations he finds himself in and questions how he keeps surviving, adding a meta touch to proceedings. Matters are greatly helped by the fact that the voice cast actually seem to relish their roles and imbue a real sense of personality into their characters, rather than phoning it in. As a result, the chemistry between them is strong and classic lines such as Elena introducing herself to Chloe as 'last year's model' or Drake admiring the 'nice view' when climbing below Elena and quickly trying to pass it off as an observation of the mountains are more memorable than they have any right to be.
