10 Exact Moments That Made You Scream In Horror Video Games

3. The Dentist's Office - Bioshock

It's easy to forget when you're roaming the sodden halls of Rapture tooled up to the nines and wielding the power to electrocute or burn your enemies to death, but at its heart Bioshock is a true and deep blue horror title. Designed as a point and click at one point in time, the game was atmosphere first and gunplay second, and it's clear that the team were experimenting wherever they could to evoke that fear.

Damp, leaky, claustrophobic environments, terrifying and malformed enemies, and of course the infamous Dentist's Room jumpscare. As you enter this room you'll see a mist envelop the screen and you'll hear the ragged footsteps of something unseen dashing around you. As the gas fades you might be surprised to see a dead body now on a gurney where before there was none, but this my friend is just the beginning.

For if you round the corner and attempt to pick up a lovely luminous tonic that's sitting on a desk, the mist once again draws in on you. This time when you recover, nothing seems to have changed, nothing that is apart from the thuggish splicer right behind you who will brain you the moment you turn and spot him.

Genuinely screamed my head off. And I loved it all the more for it.
